Flipped seasons are disorienting. It's December and the heat of summer has arrived in Argentina, complete with afternoon rain, rolling thunder, and brilliant lightning. The AC units in the new house have gotten us through a
few muggy nights but most often, we sleep comfortably with the windows
wide open. My Facebook news feed is filled with winter recipes, but it's peach and blueberry season here. And the blueberries. are. incredible. Sorry, Maine.
As we approach the solstice,
the sun sets just after 8:00pm. We are grateful for our little backyard and blue skies that are still are a novelty after five years in Delhi.
We are grateful for kind colleagues who are also neighbors with a swimming pool and trampoline.
The herbs and flowers planted over Thanksgiving weekend are thriving.
There is no chill in the air but we watch Christmas specials at night and feel like making hot chocolate.
We have begun six weeks of southern hemisphere summer vacation, now packing for much cooler temperatures for the first trip of this break. We fly south tomorrow morning and are looking forward to tromping around some big mountains and glaciers. Lots to reflect upon as we look back at 2015. Happy New Year to all!
